Ian Grundy (25-1-09): I had some great meetings last week - meetings with editors, potential team members, clients and sports marketing firms. Running a PR firm inevitably means that I'm constantly thinking about positioning and how to get clients 'seen' and 'heard'. On Friday evening as I thought about the week that had just gone, I realized that the one subject that was very prominent in each meeting was 'CONTENT'.
With editors, we discussed how to get news to them - through press releases, virtual news sites, film etc...with clients we discussed news schedules and so on. But the one area that we spent the most time focusing on was the creation of great content. The art of creating great content and great stories hasn't really changed since the beginning of time. Sure the ways of delivering and storing content are more sophisticated in 2009 than ever before (and don't we just love them)...but it's still the story that matters...and if a news story is written on ancient script and delivered tied to the leg of a pigeon, it will still make the front page if the story is good enough.
Content remains King!
isn't this always the case? Then we go ahead and create tonnes of content and brainstorm on how to monetize the same.
